As you know I had been working on this for years and my previous instructors just kept telling me how hard the practical was going to be and for the oral I had to know everything. I flew from Michigan to California to meet with John at the Van Nuys Airport. The easy accessibility of planes and hangars made usually dry textbook concepts like aircraft systems come to life and Andy made full use of all available resources when I said I wanted to understand something in more detail. At Aspen Flying Club, accelerated students finish their training in approximately 20% fewer hours than the traditional training program. In my opinion the program requires you to learn fast, this style worked very well for me. The course was fast but I felt prepared for the check ride. Immersive daily flying and instruction was invaluable. The AFIT course was above and beyond what I expected of it and I couldnt have been happier with the staff, facilities, and equipment. When you travel all the way across the Pacific, you have a very tight time frame and budget to achieve your objectives. Some days I was pretty wound up; he sensed that and found the balance to push you on, but keep you sane at the same time. There were moments of doubt, but John kept me focused on the end state. I learnt about AFIT and the promise seemed to fit my needs exactly by dedicated instructor and plane availability in a good weather location on a full-time basis, thereby covering all the 4 concerns above and clearing the path towards the goal of PPL. Life hack: if in your future you are considering Embry-Riddle, you absolutely, positively must go in with your Private already in back-pocket or hand, and I highly recommend getting it from AFIT! I could not have done this without the excellent instruction from Abe and Fady, and the support from Alex, at Van Nuys. I couldnt be more thankful for AFIT. AFIT Makes MY Dream Come True. I strive to have the knowledge base that he has going forward. All the hard work paid off and I passed my check ride! In my case, traditional flight training is very inefficient and overall takes many more hours spread out over many months or years. It has been a long and arduous journey spanning multiple instructors, over two-plus years. I decided to go a different direction. John didnt only give me the tools I needed,we built a life-long relationship that I will forever be grateful for. They dont just know the answers. It was a tremendous amount of work but it was well worth every penny and effort. He cared not just about the educational material that I was learning, but that I was having a fun and memorable experience along the way. Id looked at a number of different traditional local options 1 CFI/1 plane, to flight schools (scheduling hell) and having a dedicated instructor with a pool of aeroplanes is the best way to go. Looking back on the last two weeks, its crazy to think I started with very minimal knowledge and skills to walking away with my private pilots license. As I had some hours behind me In Australia, I was able to complete the course in 10 days with an extra day of Complex plane work. $350.00. John proved to be extraordinarily patient with my learning process. That one comment is very telling of how good of an instructor John is. Flying every day in the AFIT intensive flight program not only allowed me to retain and recall my previous flight lessons with ease, it also provided the opportunity to more easily build upon that skill-set which quickened the pace at which I was developing my piloting abilities. I want to compliment AFIT and Especially my instructor Oleg who did a phenomenal job and I will definitely highly recommend this course to anyone interested in pursuing aviation. Even with the added stress of the California fires, Oleg adapted the training and made sure I got all my hours in. I am convinced that I could not have completed this elsewhere. He is a remarkable man and Im so fortunate to have met and learned from him. Im Super happy with the training course, John is an excellent instructor. And the most important, a Great Senior instructor working with you the whole day, every day. I want you to know Ruben is great instructor. He answered my endless questions without making me feel stupid for even asking. Price does not include the FAA Examiner fee. With student pilot financing, U.S and international flight students, introductory flights, and many other advantages, Classic Air . To give you an idea, on one day we flew close to 7 hours (long break in between). On arrival in St George, the plane he normally uses for training was down with a prop issue, he quickly hustled up a replacement, arranged insurance coverage so I could solo in it quickly, organized a prop swap after a gyro failure, all of which kept me on schedule.
